We recently got back from a family reunion on the east coast. We flew to New Jersey then drove a couple hours south to the Jersey Shore. I had no idea what to expect, I was envisioning, probably like most people who have never been, some variation of MTV’s depiction of the Jersey Shore. But I was pleasantly surprised! Turns out the Jersey Shore covers about 140 miles of coast line with many different beach communities throughout. We stayed in an area called Ocean City.Continue reading

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
The #NSALE is finally here! I have so many things in my cart right now from the Norstrom Anniversary Sale… but trying to be good and really only go for pieces with some major longevity. The sale is so big that I thought I’d round up the pieces I’m currently coveting and save you the time of going through lots and lots of pages. As a side note though, early access is going on now and so you must be a cardholder in order to shop the sale. It opens to the public on July 22.
Dresses & Denim
Let’s start with dresses, because shocker, I live in dresses! My two picks are both midi length dresses. I typically go for maxi length or above the knee but right now I’m all about the midi. This striped Topshop dress is so fun. I would pair it with wood block heels during the summer and then switch it up and go with suede over the knee boots come fall. My second pick is a ruched midi in gray. I’d pair this with sneaks in summer and booties come fall.
I purchased a pair of Topshop jeans for the first time earlier this year and they’ve quickly become my favorites. The Jamie in particular is a high waist option, with the perfect amount of stretch, and for less than $50.. these are a steal. Next up I’m loving these wide leg overalls. Flares plus overalls equals win, win.
Shoes, Handbags, Jewelry
Let’s be real, there are so many to choose from. But I keep going back to neutral colors. At 5’3″ I need a shoe that elongates the leg which is why I typically stick with neutrals. And anything with a blovck heel, I’m in. Loving the peep toe booties. I already own a couple neutral pair of booties but the peep toe is a little more fresh for fall. I also picked these black booties, pretty unique I think.
Absolutely love this Rebecca Minkoff hobo bag. Classic shape and color, again, I’m all in. And adore this foldover suede clutch in gray. It’s a bit of a departure from the clutches that I currently own. I love that it’s a neutral and a great basic, but also has some fringe for fun. For jewelry, I love this delicate pave bracelet, the pave setting is kind of my jam.
Outerwear
I picked up a faux leather Moto jacket by Topshop this year and it’s been one of my best purchases. Seriously, it goes with any and everything. Pair it with summer dresses or throw it on over a basic tee and denim and you instantly elevate your look. I linked a suede Topshop option but also a faux leather choice both in a great cut. And lastly an Anorak jacket. I purchased one years ago which I still have, it’s the best lightweight jacket to throw on come spring, summer nights and fall. You can’t wrong with this jacket.
Thanks for reading and following along. If you get a chance to browse the sale let me know your picks! If you end up getting anything I’d love to see how you’re styling them too, tag me on Instagram @christielovesflora

Summer Style Roundup
Summer dressing should be easy and to the extent possible, effortless. No surprise here but most of the styles I’m coveting for summer include some form of an easy breezy dress. A one and done. And apparently I’m also really into yellow this year!
From top left: A wood block heel in this really rich chocolatey color, a perfect heel height for those long summer days.
A lightweight tunic in a classic color.
Another tunic in white with dreamy details.
Cutest ankle wrap sandal in black suede.
Floral wide leg jumpsuit. Does it get any better?
Mellow yellow dress, perfect for backyard gatherings and beachy nights.
The prettiest floral dress.
Vegan tote in a neutral color.
Two piece black lace set, for all the summer cocktail parties.
Black embroidered dress, I could wear this every day and
A black button up suede skirt, a little departure from the denim button up mini.
San Diego Staycation
The most kid friendly pool in all of San Diego, in my opinion. The main pool has a beach type entry.
Nice big lawn just outside the back patio. Perfect place to let the kids roam and wander while we drank coffee.
Oh ya know, just running bare foot in the grass, but seriously this dress is made for running barefoot in the grass.
Always happy in a white or cream colored dress.
Our little casa for the weekend.
My kids roll out in pj’s, maybe a little too much, but when it’s 7am and the kids have been up for an hour already, all you want to do is roll to breakfast and grab a cup of coffee as quick as you can, and this means sometimes you gotta cruise out in pj’s. Most of these photos are us just exploring the lush grounds at Paradise Point. I’ve blogged about this resort once before, but I can’t help it, it’s one of our favorite places in San Diego to get away for a weekend, and really feels like you’re on vacation.
Paradise Point is situated right on Mission Bay. There’s so much to do here. You can rent or bring bikes to go cruising around the bay, explore lots of little pathways through the lagoons, swim in a number of pools or climb to the top of the wooden and metal observation tower, which provides 360 degree views of the city. All of this while being surrounded by tropical gardens. It’s all a win-win.
We only spent one night and two days here, but that was plenty of time to get in a ton of swimming and actually a bit of relaxation. They have an excellent spa and offer a local’s discount. There’s also a number of places to eat here, Tidal, which has great seafood and is a fun place to get a little dressed up for, or the Barefoot Bar and Grill for a more laid back setting. We did Barefoot for breakfast and tacos by the pool for lunch both days. For dinner we ordered room service and ate al fresco on the back patio.
The kids were definitely not ready to go when it was time to head back home. And I don’t blame them. Paradise Point is truly a little getaway within the city. If you are ever visiting San Diego you should definitely check this resort out, or if you are a local and haven’t been, it’s definitely a great place to explore. Hoping to be back soon.
As always, thanks for reading!

90s Slip Dress
All images by AshGabes Photography
The 90s slip dress is back in rotation this year and I’m loving it. I’m such a 90s chick but this look is right up my ally. They’re so easy to wear during the day. Backless and possibly braless feels like summer to me. There’s an easy, more relaxed vibe to some of the slip dresses out there right now. We’re in total June gloom over here and I’m completely okay with that. It’s a great excuse to keep mixing in those darker hues, even as summer is approaching. The slip dress is also easy to layer, which means I’m getting more mileage out of my faux leather jacket. I think it’s been one of my best purchases this year.
I’m really just liking looser fit dresses as a whole. Long summer nights means lots of chips, lots of guacamole and probably a margarita or two. Who wants to feel confined? Looser styles for summer are easy and care free, which is exactly how summer should feel.
Now, if only those rays would start making an appearance…
What’s your favorite 90s trend that’s having a moment?
Thanks for stopping by, have a great week.
(This dress is from Marshalls, by Bishop and Young, but I linked to a similar option here)
